Times tables battle
The times tables battle is a game on the tables you choose. Each go is saved to the child who is studying, with their bests and how they’re doing on each table.
To open it, pick the child on the Learning page, then select Times tables battle.
Set up a battle
- Under Tables, select the tables to practise. All of them are chosen to start. Select All, Clear All, Easy (2, 5, 10) and Hard (7, 8, 9, 12) choose several at once.
- Under Mode, select one:
- Time Attack: as many as you can in 30, 60 or 120 seconds.
- Sprint: 10, 20 or 50 questions, as fast as you can.
- Survival: start with 15 seconds. A right answer adds 2 seconds, a wrong one takes 3.
- Relaxed: 10, 20 or 50 questions, with no clock.
- In the box that opens, choose how long (for Time Attack, Sprint and Relaxed), and under Answer by, choose Multiple choice or Typing the answer.
- Select Start, or Cancel to choose another mode.
Play
- Multiple choice: select the answer, or press 1, 2, 3 or 4.
- Typing the answer: type it and press Enter, or select Go.
- After a wrong answer, the right one shows before the next question.
- Select Quit to stop. A go you quit isn’t counted.
See how you did
When the go ends you see your score, accuracy, average time per answer and longest streak, and the questions you got wrong. Select Play Again for another go with the same settings, or Change Settings.
Getting every answer right, with at least 10 answers, earns a point. You can earn one point a day for each set of tables.
Your bests shows your best go for each mode and length. Relaxed has no best, because there’s no clock to beat.
How you’re doing on each table shows the share of answers right on each table in battles: Strong is 80% or more, Getting there is 60 to 79%, and Practise is below 60%.
Who can do this
Anyone in the home, for the child picked on the Learning page.
If something goes wrong
“Choose at least one table.” No tables are selected. Select at least one, then select a mode.
“This go couldn’t be saved. Check the connection, then play again.” Your results show, but the go wasn’t saved, so it doesn’t count for bests or a point. Check the connection, then select Play Again.
