Messages
Messages is where you read what your organisation’s admins send and where you write back. Admins can write to the people in the organisation and ask the platform’s support team for help. Members can ask the admins a question.
To open it as a member, select Messages on your dashboard. As an admin, select Family on your dashboard, then Messages. If you don’t see it, messages are switched off.
Read your messages
The page lists your conversations, newest first. The heading says how many you have and how many are unread, for example “3 conversations, 1 unread”. Each row shows the subject, the start of the last message and its date.
A row may show:
- Message, Question or Support: the kind of conversation.
- Open, Answered or Closed: where a question or support request stands.
- 1 unread or n unread: new messages you haven’t opened.
Select a row to read the whole conversation. Opening it marks it as read.
Ask the admins a question
- Select Ask the Admins.
- Enter a title in Subject.
- Enter your question in Message.
- Select Send.
You see the message “Sent.” Your question goes to the admins of your organisation.
Send a message to your organisation
- Select New Message.
- Under To, choose Everyone, Members, Admins or Choose people.
- For Choose people, tick each person. Type in Filter to find someone.
- Enter a title in Subject.
- Enter your message in Message.
- Select Send.
You see the message “Sent.” Replies from members come to the admins, not to everyone.
Contact support
- Select Contact Support.
- Enter a title in Subject.
- Enter what you need in Message.
- Select Send.
Your request goes to the platform’s support team, and to the other admins of your organisation so they can follow it.
Reply
- Open the conversation.
- Enter your reply in Reply.
- Select Send.
When a member replies to a message from an admin, the box is called Reply to the admins. The reply goes to the admins only, as a question.
Close a conversation
- Open the question or support request.
- Select Close Conversation.
- Select Close Conversation again to confirm.
You see the message “Conversation closed.” Nobody can reply once it’s closed. To carry on later, start a new conversation.
Who can do this
Everyone in an organisation can read their messages. Members can use Ask the Admins. Organisation admins can use New Message and Contact Support.
If something goes wrong
“Give it a subject and a message (subjects up to 150 characters, messages up to 5,000).” Fill in Subject and Message, and shorten them if they’re too long.
“You have sent a lot of messages in the last hour. Please wait a little before sending another.” Wait, then try again.
“Nobody would receive this. Choose who it is for.” Choose at least one person under To.
“This conversation is closed.” Start a new conversation instead.
“That conversation is no longer here.” Go back to the list and open another.
“Messages are switched off.” A Global Admin has turned messages off for the platform.
“That did not send. Please try again.” Something went wrong. Try again.
