Subjects and study notes
Your subjects are the ones a parent set up for you this school year, such as Year 6 Maths. In each one you write study notes: a summary of what you learned, and worked examples. Later you review them.
To open a subject, pick yourself on the Learning page, then select the subject on your page.
Find a sub-topic
- Select a topic in the list, such as “A Place value and number sense”. On a phone, choose it from Topic instead. Its sub-topics show beside the list, or below Topic on a phone.
- Select a sub-topic, such as “A.1 Place values”.
A sub-topic with notes shows how many examples it has, for example “Notes, 2 examples”.
When you come back to the subject, it opens on the topic you picked last. The sub-topic you opened last shows Last opened. This browser remembers them, so on another computer or tablet the subject opens on its first topic.
Write your notes
- Under Summary, write what you learned, in your own words.
- Select Add Example.
- Write the Question, the Working (the steps) and the Answer.
- Add more examples the same way. You can have up to 30.
- Select Save.
Your examples show one at a time, with “Example 2 of 5” above them. Select ‹ or › to go to the example before or after.
“Saved” shows beside Save when your notes are saved.
To change the order of examples, select Move Left or Move Right on an example, then Save.
To delete an example, select Delete on it, then Delete again to confirm, then Save.
If you leave the page before saving, your browser asks whether to leave. Stay on the page and select Save to keep your changes.
Review your notes
- Select Review, on the subject page or at the top of your notes.
- Read the summary and the first example’s question. Select › for the next example, or ‹ to go back.
- Work it out yourself.
- Select Show Working or Show Answer to check.
- Select Next for the next sub-topic with notes, or Previous to go back.
Who can do this
The child studying writes and reviews their own notes. A parent can read them, but can’t change them.
If something goes wrong
“These notes changed in another tab. Reload to see them.” You saved these notes in another tab or window. Copy anything you want to keep, then reload the page.
“Couldn’t save. Check the connection, then select Save again.” Your notes are still on the page. Check the connection, then select Save again.
“This subject was removed.” A parent removed this subject, or it isn’t yours. Ask a parent.
